Torque converters
Torque is the turning effect of a force. Pound-force foot (ft·lbf) is distinct from mass pounds. Choose an exact direction below, or open the universal converter for all compatible units.

Understanding torque
Torque is a moment, not a weight
Torque is force multiplied by a perpendicular lever-arm distance. Foot-pound-force (ft·lbf) is commonly written “foot-pounds” but must not be confused with pounds of mass.
How to verify a conversion
Both newton-meters and foot-pound-force represent torque. The calculator changes units only; it cannot determine a recommended tightening torque for a particular part.

Accurate calculations, no guesswork
Every converter uses consistent unit definitions and returns an interactive result you can verify. For multiple measurements, use the batch converter.
